Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long does the process take?

A: Depending on the type and footage of the installation, it normally takes only 1 day.

Q: How will replacing my existing edging with curbing effect my landscaping?

A: This can be done without disturbing your existing planters. There is no footer as the curb is concrete is its own footing. You will need to remove existing edging from your landscaping. Then we will cut an 8" to 10” wide strip with the Bed Edger, and prepare the ground. If you have any sprinkler heads, wiring for lighting on or around the borders, consult your installer to find out if they need to be relocated.

Q: Are forms set to do concrete landscape curbing?

A: No, We utilize a machine that extrudes the concrete into a continuous concrete border. We can customize your job to your satisfaction!

Q: Do you use reinforcement in your curbing?

A: Yes, reinforced fibers are used in the curbing.

Q: What about frost and ground movement?

A: The benefit of our concrete curbing is that it is a continuous piece of concrete. Individual blocks or bricks will shift over time and in the winter. Our curb is fiber-mesh reinforced which is designed to take the place of rebar or steel and adds strength to the curb. We place control/expansion joints every 3 feet and are cut about 40% into the curb. This is designed to control the cracking of the curb during shifting periods and colder months. If the curb should crack, it should crack in the expansion joint and not be noticeable.

Q: Will the curbing crack?

A: All concrete will crack. To control cracking - "control joints" are placed every 24-36 inches, which allows your curbing to expand and breathe.

Q: Will I be able to mow up against my curbing?

A: The Super Edge Style curbing will be as strong as 3000 psi and will withstand your push mowers weight right on top of the curbing. This will allow you to cut the grass to the proper level and thus require less trimming. On the other styles of curbing you will be able to mow right up against it, resulting in less time spent weed eating around your landscaped areas.

Q: What do I need to do prior to your arrival and installation?

A: There are a few things you can do to help the process. We will need access to a water source and possibly an electrical outlet. It is the customers responsibilty to mark all subterranean objects using spray paint. We are not responsible for contacting utility companies or identifying these objects (eg. cable, electric, low voltage lighting, telephone lines, invisible fences, drainage pipes and sprinkler systems, ect.).
